Some of you may already know what an influencer is and how they market for companies. For those of you who don’t know, influencers are kind of what they sound like, they influence your buying habits. Influencer marketing is a new marketing strategy used in recent years across social media. It doesn't always feel like marketing. It can feel like a friend telling you about their favorite product.
An influencer’s role in marketing is spreading the word about a product. Usually the company provides the influencer with a discount code to provide to their followers. The discount code gives the follower a discount on products or free shipping. The influencer usually gets compensated every time the discount code is used. The discount code also tracks how many people are making purchases using the discount code, so the company can determine if the partnership with the influencer is beneficial.
Influencer marketing can be a great tool for companies to spread the word about their products. Influencers are often trusted like a friend, but it can also be a risk. If the influencer does something to break the trust with their audience, the company may suffer too.
